How do you talk to your Father?

The unfortunate thing about the "Our Father" prayer is that some have turned it into a ritual, and because of that have scared people off from using it as a real prayer for themselves. Somehow we have all forgotten that the psalms were prayers written to be sung, ritually on your way to worship and at worship.

We could spend weeks looking in detail at the prayer itself but what Jesus was doing was more contrasting what our prayer behavior should be with that of some that shouldn't be. Yet, the content is important because in it we recognize whom God is (our Father [if He is] and the king of the universe), that He is our provider, that we can't get His forgiveness without being forgiven of others first and that He is the only One who can keep us from falling.

But again we should understand that prayer is our way of getting Gods attention focused on our needs and us. The unfortunate thing is that God is listening, but only for the right words (words that express the right heart attitude). As we study God's word daily we can discover those words and there is nothing wrong with praying them back to Him.

Sincerity involves being more concerned for the reputation of God than my own.

Mateo 6:5a (1-15) "Y cuando oréis, no seáis como los hipócritas;"

¿Cómo hablas a tu Padre?

Lo lamentable de la oración del "Padre Nuestro" es que algunos la han convertido en un ritual, y por eso han asustado a la gente de usarla como una verdadera oración por sí misma. De alguna manera, todos hemos olvidado que los salmos eran oraciones escritas para ser cantadas, ritualmente en su camino a la adoración y en la adoración.

Podríamos pasar semanas mirando en detalle la oración en sí, pero lo que Jesús estaba haciendo era más contrastante de lo que debería ser nuestro comportamiento de oración con el de algunos que no deberían ser. Sin embargo, el contenido es importante porque en él reconocemos quién es Dios (nuestro Padre [si Él es] y el rey del universo), que Él es nuestro proveedor, que no podemos obtener Su perdón sin ser perdonados primero por los demás y que Él es el único que puede ayudarnos evitar caer.

Pero nuevamente debemos entender que la oración es nuestra manera de atraer la atención de Dios a nuestras necesidades y a nosotros. Lo lamentable es que Dios está escuchando, pero solo por las palabras correctas (palabras que expresan la actitud correcta del corazón). A medida que estudiamos la palabra de Dios a diario, podemos descubrir esas palabras y no hay nada de malo en rezarlas a Él.

Sinceridad involucra ser mas preocupado por la reputación de Dios que la mía.
